Israeli Army Publishes Names and Images of 12 Killed Hezbollah Commanders

On Saturday, September 31, the Israeli army published the names and images of 12 commanders of Hezbollah's Radwan unit who were killed in an attack on Friday, September 30, at their gathering place under a building in the 'Dahiyeh' neighborhood of Beirut. The most significant commander killed in the Israeli attack was Ibrahim Aqil, head of Hezbollah's military operations, commander of the Radwan force, and responsible for executing military plans for this Iranian proxy group in the Jaleela area in northern Israel. In total, 16 members of Hezbollah were killed in the Israeli airstrike targeting the commanders. Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of its 16 members in the Israeli attack on Friday. Among the other casualties was Ahmad Wahbi, head of Hezbollah's training unit and a former commander of the Radwan force. The Israeli army stated that Wahbi was involved in planning the attack on Jaleela and also contributed to 'advancing Hezbollah's deployment in southern Lebanon while trying to improve the group's ground combat capabilities.' According to the Israeli army, Ahmad Wahbi also participated in planning and executing rocket attacks on Israel during the early months of the ongoing conflicts. Other killed commanders included Samer Halawi, coastal area commander; Abbas Muslimani, commander of the Qana area; Abdullah Hajazi, commander of the Ramim Ridge area; Mohammad Reza, commander of the Khiyam area; Hassan Madi, commander of the Jabal Duf area; Hassan Abdul Sattar, operations commander; and Hussein Hadrj, chief of staff. The Israeli army noted in its statement that Ibrahim Aqil and the other commanders killed were responsible for planning, advancing, and executing hundreds of terrorist operations against Israel, including Hezbollah's assassination plans to attack northern Israel. The intensification of clashes between Hezbollah and Israel has occurred following the continued rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah on Israel and the explosion of the group's communication devices, resulting in nearly 40 fatalities, mostly among members of this Iranian proxy group, and 3,000 others injured. Although the explosions have been attributed to Israel, the country has taken a 'neither confirm nor deny' stance regarding this matter. Since the terrorist attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7 of last year, Hezbollah has also entered the war in support of this group and has repeatedly attempted to attack northern Israel by firing rockets. These attacks have caused thousands of Israelis to leave their homes in the northern part of the country. Israel has stated that it will ensure security in its northern regions by any means necessary, whether diplomatic or military. Israel demands Hezbollah withdraw from the border areas of Lebanon with Israel. So far, diplomatic efforts to push Hezbollah back to the other side of the Litani River, 30 kilometers from the common border of Israel and Lebanon based on UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in the summer of 2006, have failed. Hezbollah Lebanon was established in 1982 by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Several countries, including the United States, Israel, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Australia, have recognized the entirety of this group as a terrorist organization. The identification of Hezbollah Lebanon as a terrorist organization means not distinguishing between its political and military branches and recognizing both branches as terrorist entities. A senior Hezbollah member was killed in the Israeli airstrike on Beirut. The Israeli army stated: 'We destroyed 1,000 rockets ready for launch from Hezbollah.' Blinken: 'We call for restraint in the region, especially in Lebanon.' Nasrallah acknowledged the severe military and security damage inflicted on Hezbollah: 'It was unprecedented.' A new wave of extensive Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Lebanon banned the transport of radios and pagers through Beirut International Airport. The White House stated: 'The U.S. had no involvement in the explosions of communication devices belonging to Hezbollah agents in Lebanon.'
