Israeli Army Shells Hezbollah from 'Lebanese Soil'

Israeli artillery units have, for the first time since the beginning of Israel's ground attack on Lebanon, entered the territory of this country and commenced their operations in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army announced that in recent days, the 411th Battalion of the 282nd Artillery Regiment crossed the northern border of Israel and began shelling Hezbollah positions from inside Lebanon using M-109 self-propelled howitzers. According to the Israeli army's statement, this action increases their artillery range and allows for better support of ground forces engaged in combat with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army claims that since the start of the ground offensive in late September, the 282nd Battalion has targeted thousands of Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, including weapon depots, command centers, and rocket launch sites, killing hundreds of members of this Iranian proxy group. Hezbollah Lebanon unilaterally began its rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel the day after the terrorist attack on October 7 of last year. In response, Israel has conducted severe attacks against this group's positions in Lebanon and Syria, killing hundreds of members of this major Iranian proxy in the region, including its leader and senior military commanders such as Hassan Nasrallah, Foad Shukr, Ibrahim Aqil, and Hashem Safi al-Din. Simultaneously with heavy airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and the Bekaa Valley, Israel has deployed its ground forces to parts of southern Lebanon, resulting in over 1.2 million Lebanese being displaced due to the fighting. Several countries, including the United States, Israel, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Australia, have recognized Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. An Israeli attack on Hezbollah positions in Baalbek, Lebanon, left 6 dead and 11 wounded. There are fears of further damage to Hezbollah; Tehran is attempting to negotiate a ceasefire in Lebanon. Israel stated that it targeted Hezbollah positions in 'three rounds' of airstrikes. Samir Geagea urged Hezbollah to lay down its weapons as soon as possible.
