Israeli Attack on Hezbollah Weapons Depot Leaves 10 Dead and 5 Injured

Lebanon's state news agency reported on Saturday, August 27, that 10 people were killed and 5 others injured due to an Israeli attack in the city of 'Nabatieh' in southern Lebanon. According to the state news agency, the victims are Syrian citizens, and the final number of casualties will be announced after DNA testing to identify the victims. In response, the Israeli army stated that this attack targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot, a group backed by the Islamic Republic, in southern Lebanon. The Israeli attack on Saturday occurred after ceasefire negotiations between Hamas, a group supported by the Islamic Republic, and Israel were halted in Doha, Qatar, on Friday, August 26, with negotiators expected to meet again in the coming days. Meanwhile, Hezbollah Lebanon issued a statement declaring that in retaliation for the Israeli attack on Nabatieh, it attacked the 'Ayal Heshahar' kibbutz in northern Israel. In this context, the Israeli army reported that 55 rockets were fired by Hezbollah towards this country. Additionally, two Israeli soldiers were injured due to a Hezbollah suicide drone attack in northern Israel. The Lebanese state news agency reported that an Israeli drone attack on a motorcycle in the 'Qadmous' area east of 'Sour' in southern Lebanon resulted in one injury. However, Reuters quoted a security source stating that one person was killed in this attack. The Israeli army identified the deceased as Hussein Ibrahim Qassab, a commander of Hezbollah's 'Radwan' unit. Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have escalated in recent weeks following a Hezbollah rocket attack on northern Israel that killed 12 children and teenagers. Following this attack, Israel eliminated Fawad Shukr, the highest-ranking Hezbollah commander, on August 9 in Beirut. The killing of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas's political bureau, in Tehran on August 10 has also been attributed to Israel. While Israel has acknowledged responsibility for the deadly attack on Fawad Shukr, it has neither confirmed nor denied the attack on Ismail Haniyeh. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Hezbollah have vowed not to leave these two deadly attacks unanswered. In response, Israel has warned that any party that attacks the country will have to pay a heavy price. Claims from the Islamic Republic followed the release of a video from Hezbollah's missile site: across the country from these 'missile cities', Israel has sought support from France and Britain for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran. Israeli security services have warned that the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah may attempt to assassinate senior officials. The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned the commercial networks of Yemen's Houthis and Hezbollah Lebanon. Ahmadreza Afshari, a member of the Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guards in Syria, was killed. Hezbollah reported the deaths of two of its members in the Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon.
