Israeli Drone Strike Near Tyre, Lebanon; One Hamas Member Killed

Israeli and Hamas officials announced that in a drone strike by Israel on Wednesday targeting a vehicle outside the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, a member of Hamas was killed. A Hamas source told Reuters that the deceased member was named Hadi Mustafa but was not a senior Hamas official. Meanwhile, Hamas's Al-Aqsa television stated that Hadi Mustafa was one of the leaders of the group's armed wing. Several Iranian media outlets referred to Hadi Mustafa as one of the commanders of the Qassam Brigades. The Israeli army confirmed that Hadi Mustafa was killed in southern Lebanon, labeling him an 'important' Hamas operative responsible for attacks on Israel and Jews worldwide. Two security sources reported that a Syrian man passing by on a motorcycle was also killed in the attack. Earlier reports indicated that both deceased individuals were in Mustafa's vehicle. All three sources stated that the drone, which they claimed was Israeli, hovered above the attack site for several minutes after the strike. Hamas has a political and military presence not only in Gaza but also in Lebanon, primarily in Palestinian refugee camps. This militant group is also supported by Hezbollah in Lebanon. The group, backed by the Islamic Republic, is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the UK, Canada, Israel, and several other countries. The U.S. intelligence community considers the Islamic Republic a 'regional threat' and a 'driver of widespread destructive activities.'
