Israeli Fighter Jets Attack Several Hezbollah Launchers in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced that its air force fighter jets targeted "several launchers of the Hezbollah group in southern Lebanon." The Israeli army stated on its Telegram channel that the launchers posed a threat to the country, adding that as a result of one of the successful attacks on the launchers, several rockets were detected heading towards northern Israel, one of which fell in an open area, resulting in no reported damage. According to the report, sirens sounded in northern Israel, but the other rockets did not enter Israeli territory. Hezbollah, the group supported by the Islamic Republic, launched rocket attacks on northern Israel following the Hamas militants' attack on southern Israel on October 7 last year and the start of Israel's operations in Gaza aimed at destroying Hamas. The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, September 7, adopted a resolution calling for an end to the escalating attacks between Hezbollah militants and Israeli forces, warning that rising tensions increased the risk of a "widespread conflict." This resolution, adopted unanimously by its 15 members, called on "relevant actors" to restore "calm, restraint, and stability" to the region. The Israeli army also reported that one of its military aircraft targeted "a terrorist cell" during an "anti-terror operation" by Israeli security forces in the Jenin area of the West Bank. Additionally, the Israeli army announced on Friday morning that its forces killed "dozens of terrorists" in the Rafah area of Gaza on Thursday. The Security Council unanimously called for an end to the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah. Lufthansa extended the suspension of its flights to Tehran and Tel Aviv until September 14. The Israeli ambassador to the UN stated that dealing with armed groups in the Middle East must include countering the Iranian government.
