Israeli Foreign Minister Threatens Palestinian Authority with 'Dissolution'

Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz threatened that if the Palestinian Authority continues its diplomatic aggression against Israel at the United Nations, Jerusalem would consider the 'dissolution' of the Authority. This was stated by Katz's office to the Times of Israel. The Palestinian Authority has submitted a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly demanding that Israel be compelled to implement decisions of the International Court of Justice based in The Hague. The Israeli Foreign Ministry told the Times of Israel that last week, Katz managed a discussion regarding Israel's response to the Palestinian Authority's intention to pressure the General Assembly for a vote on the resolution. This resolution calls for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories within six months, end settlement activities, and 'allow Palestinians to return to their lands', impose sanctions on senior Israeli officials, and prevent the sale of weapons to Israel if they are used in Palestinian territories. The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that Katz ordered a series of actions to be coordinated with the U.S. and other Israeli allies to oppose this decision by the Palestinian Authority. He also instructed the ministry to prepare a set of responses against the Palestinian Authority that would correspond to the severity of the final resolution. According to the Times of Israel, Israel will impose 'severe sanctions' on the Palestinian Authority, which could include suspending all contacts. The U.S. is making efforts to ease tensions between Israel and Hamas and Hezbollah and find a way to establish a ceasefire. The U.S. strongly urged both Israel and Hamas to agree to a ceasefire. Lufthansa Airlines is resuming its flights to Tel Aviv after a month of suspension. Netanyahu stated that the 'axis of evil' needs the Philadelphi corridor, so Israel must be present there.
