Israeli Military Buildings of Hamas Near Refugee Shelter; Israel: Hamas Continues to Violate International Laws

On Saturday, September 24, Israeli fighter jets carried out targeted attacks against Hamas militants in two military buildings in the "Al-Furqan" area of Gaza. According to a statement from the Israeli army, these two buildings were used for "various terrorist operations" and "weapons production." The Israeli army added that these buildings were located near an area that previously housed a school and is now being used as a shelter. The Israeli army clarified that contrary to claims made, it did not attack fuel facilities in this area. The statement noted that prior to these attacks, measures such as the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance were taken to minimize civilian casualties. Simultaneously, Israeli media reported that warning sirens sounded in "Ashkelon" due to the firing of two projectiles from northern Gaza into the area. Reports indicate that one of these projectiles was intercepted and destroyed, while the other landed on the beach of Ashkelon. This rocket fire from Palestinian militants towards Israel resulted in no casualties. The destruction of the projectile fired by Palestinian militants over the skies of Ashkelon was carried out by the Israeli army's Iron Dome system. In its statement on Saturday, the Israeli army reiterated that "the terrorist organization Hamas systematically violates international laws, conducting operations from within civilian infrastructure in Gaza and exploiting Gazan civilians for its terrorist activities." The practice of Hamas, a group supported by the Islamic Republic, and other Palestinian militant groups using civilians as "human shields" has been criticized by Western countries and Israel over the years. During the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 of last year, at least 1,200 Israeli citizens, including women, children, and the elderly, were killed, and more than 250 others were taken hostage. Following this terrorist attack, Israel launched an offensive against Gaza to destroy Hamas and recover hostages taken by Hamas.
