Israeli Prosecutor Charges Citizen with Connection to Islamic Republic Agent

On Monday, the Israeli Prosecutor's Office filed charges against a citizen of the country for allegedly having connections with an agent of the Islamic Republic and receiving cryptocurrency from him in exchange for cooperation. According to the Times of Israel, based on the issued indictment, Eden Dabas, an Israeli citizen, had several profiles on the 'Telegram' application, and the Islamic Republic agent contacted him through these profiles. The connection between Dabas and the Islamic Republic agent was established from June 6 to August 5 of this year, during which Dabas received cryptocurrency worth $12,000. According to the indictment, Dabas knew from the beginning that the agent was an Islamic Republic official and that the tasks assigned to him were from Israel's enemy. The first task assigned to Dabas was to prepare posters featuring a bloody hand and the phrase 'Stand on the Right Side of History,' which he was supposed to install in public places. After that, Dabas prepared more posters, one of which called on people to initiate an armed revolution in Israel. According to the indictment, he sent images of these posters in public places to the Islamic Republic agent and then took the posters down. Another task assigned to Dabas was to create a Telegram group titled 'People's Army' that would help the Islamic Republic agent contact more Israeli citizens. The Islamic Republic agent had asked Dabas to prepare a doll, cut off its head, and send it along with a threatening message and a knife to a security official he deemed 'important.' Following the request of the Islamic Republic agent, Dabas prepared the doll but placed it in front of his father's house and sent a photo of it to the Islamic Republic agent to make him think that Dabas had completed his task. Other charges against Dabas include starting a forest fire, breaking car windows, drawing a mural with the theme of armed revolution, burning cars, and hiding cash in three locations. The indictment against Eden Dabas contains charges similar to those recently brought against several other Israeli citizens. Three Israeli citizens were arrested in late July for performing similar tasks for an Islamic Republic agent. Shin Bet and the Israeli police, in a joint statement regarding this matter, said that establishing contact with Israeli citizens through fake accounts is 'a known method of Iranian intelligence organizations.' According to the joint statement, numerous fake user accounts have been identified by the Iranian government's security forces in recent months, and a lot of information about them and their operations has been collected. According to the statement, Islamic Republic agents contact Israeli citizens using platforms such as Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and X, soliciting their cooperation in exchange for money. The Islamic Republic's efforts to recruit Israeli citizens aim to carry out destructive actions.
