Italian Actor Survives Stage Execution Incident

An Italian judicial official announced on Friday, February 5, that an actor from the country, who was hanged during a stage execution due to a technical error, has suffered brain death. According to Reuters, this incident occurred in Tuscany. The Lux Theatre in Pisa issued a statement announcing a 10-day closure, stating that due to 'this unbelievable tragedy... we believe it is right to suspend all our activities, including performances.' Local media in Tuscany reported that 27-year-old Raphael Schumacher from northern Italy was performing a monologue about the misfortunes of adolescence, which ended with a suicide scene involving a noose. According to the local version of Corriere della Sera, the incident took place on January 30 during a private performance. Schumacher died on Thursday after nearly a week in a coma at the University Hospital of Pisa. Corriere della Sera reported that police are investigating two directors and two technical specialists for possible manslaughter, as they are accused of failing to ensure the safety measures for the execution scene during the performance. It is said that the execution scene was supposed to be recreated with a firearm, but at the last moment, a noose was substituted.
