Japanese Army Seeks to Utilize Starlink Satellite Internet Service

The Japanese newspaper "Yomiuri" reported on Sunday, citing government sources, that the Japanese army is testing the Starlink satellite internet service to utilize this technology from early 2024. Yomiuri further stated that the Japanese Ministry of Defense currently has access to communication satellites in "geostationary orbit," but using Starlink technology, owned by Elon Musk, will allow the use of a constellation of satellites in "low Earth orbit." "Geostationary orbit" is located at an altitude of 35,000 kilometers above sea level, and the rotational speed required for the deployment of satellites in this orbit matches the Earth's rotation, keeping them in a fixed position in space.
