Javanfekr: Ahmadinejad's Trip to Khuzestan is Not Political or Propagandistic

With the announcement of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's two-day trip to Khuzestan province, his media advisor emphasized that this trip is "not based on political or propagandistic goals." According to ILNA, Ali Akbar Javanfekr, Ahmadinejad's media advisor, stated on Sunday, November 30, that "contrary to the poisoned and negative propaganda of some media against Dr. Ahmadinejad's trip to Khuzestan," he intends to participate in "Arbaeen programs" during this visit. On Saturday, Meysam Abdollahi, the secretary of the so-called "Council for the Clarification of the Revolution's Ideals and the Reinterpretation of Imam's Line in Khuzestan," also told Mehr News Agency that Ahmadinejad is traveling to Khuzestan for the "continuation of explanatory activities," emphasizing that this trip is "in no way political or propagandistic," and urged local media to view such programs with goodwill and refrain from political interpretations and speculation. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had also traveled to Gorgan on September 25, where his supporters chanted slogans about his candidacy in the elections. Before the public opposition of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, to Ahmadinejad's candidacy, he was mentioned in the media as one of the potential candidates for this election. One day after Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that he does not consider it advisable for Ahmadinejad to participate in the upcoming elections, Ahmadinejad wrote in a letter that he has expressed his "obedience" to Ayatollah Khamenei's "recommendation." The twelfth presidential election in Iran will be held on May 29, 2017, and at the same time, various cities in Iran will witness the fifth round of city and village council elections.
