JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President, described the U.S. military operations in Venezuela as 'remarkable' and emphasized Donald Trump's commitment to his words. In a message posted on the social media platform X on Saturday, January 3, he recalled that Trump had provided several opportunities to resolve the crisis, but had clearly stated throughout the process that drug trafficking must stop and stolen oil must be returned to the United States. Vance added, 'Maduro is the latest individual to realize that President Trump is committed to what he says.' He also praised the 'brave special forces' of the U.S. for carrying out a 'truly remarkable' operation. Earlier, Pamela Bondi, the U.S. Attorney General, announced in a message on X that Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been charged in the 'Southern District of New York Federal Court' with 'conspiracy to commit drug terrorism,' 'conspiracy to import cocaine,' 'possession of automatic weapons and destructive devices,' and 'conspiracy to possess automatic weapons and destructive devices against the United States.' She added that they 'will soon face the full wrath of American justice on U.S. soil and in U.S. courts.' Bondi also thanked Trump on behalf of the entire U.S. Department of Justice for his 'courage in demanding accountability on behalf of the American people.' She expressed gratitude to the 'brave military personnel' who carried out the 'extraordinarily successful mission' to arrest Maduro and his wife. Hours before this message, Donald Trump announced on his social media platform that there had been a 'large-scale operation against Venezuela and its leaders,' stating that Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been arrested and removed from the country. Trump also mentioned that this operation was conducted in cooperation with American forces, with more details to be announced later.
