John Mica, a Republican representative, told reporters that Boehner 'just doesn't want to become a subject of ridicule. Some people want to make him a subject both in Congress and outside of it.' According to an Associated Press report, some conservatives in the Republican Party welcomed Boehner's resignation. Tim Huelskamp stated that 'now is the time for new leadership,' and Tom Massie emphasized that the Speaker of the House 'has betrayed our republic.' He added, 'This was an inevitable action.' Many Republicans believe that Boehner's resignation is a significant victory for Tea Party supporters within the Republican Party.
