Joint Production of Iran and Czech Republic at Berlinale 69

The 69th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, will begin in about two weeks in the German capital. This year, unlike previous editions of the festival, Iranian cinema does not have a significant presence. The only Iranian film accepted in this edition of Berlin is titled 'Leak,' directed by first-time filmmaker Susan Irovanyan, who has previously made several short films. 'Leak,' as a joint production of Iran and the Czech Republic, produced by Majid Barzegar and Kaveh Farnam, is set to be screened in the Forum section of the Berlin festival. The film tells a surreal story about a middle-aged woman who suddenly starts leaking oil from her. We spoke with Kaveh Farnam, one of its producers residing in the Czech Republic, about the film's subject and production process. In this edition of the Berlin festival, an Iranian filmmaker named Maryam Zarei is also present with a documentary titled 'Born in Evin' in the German Cinema Perspectives section. This year's jury president of the Berlin festival is the well-known French actress Juliette Binoche.
