Jordan Warns of the Danger of a 'Devastating War' in the Middle East

On Wednesday, April 29, Jordan's Foreign Minister warned that Israel's response to attacks from the Islamic Republic could lead the entire region into a devastating war. Ayman Safadi, whose military collaborated with Israel and the United States to destroy several of the Islamic Republic's offensive drones before they could reach Israel, added that Jordan is consulting with major powers against the escalation of tensions, which would have widespread consequences for the stability and security of the region, to change the 'very dangerous situation' and reduce the 'likelihood of a regional explosion.' The Jordanian Foreign Minister had previously announced the summoning of the Islamic Republic's ambassador to his country in protest against the meddlesome remarks of Iranian officials regarding Jordan's internal affairs. On Saturday night, the Islamic Republic launched over 300 missiles and drones towards Israel. According to Israeli and U.S. officials, many of these missiles and drones were intercepted by Israel's air defense and with the assistance of the air forces of several countries, including the U.S., the UK, France, and Jordan. The unprecedented attacks by the Islamic Republic on Israel have faced a wave of global condemnation, with leaders from many countries, especially the United States, emphasizing the need to reduce tensions and calling for accountability from Tehran. Support from the Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for two proposed measures against the activities of the Islamic Republic, strong condemnation of the Islamic Republic at the United Nations coinciding with Amir-Abdollahian's arrival in New York; Iran's actions threaten global peace and security, and simultaneously with the EU summit, France called for the expansion of sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
