Judicial Authorities' Efforts to Clarify Charges Against Narges Mohammadi in Prison

Judicial authorities have opened a new case against political prisoner Narges Mohammadi and have even attempted to clarify the charges against her. It is unclear what the charges are, but she is the fourth person to face legal action after participating and speaking at the virtual meeting 'Saving Iran.' Narges Mohammadi's Instagram page reported that on May 5, her family and lawyer were informed that she had been summoned to Branch 2 of the Evin Prosecutor's Office, but she refused to go. On Wednesday, May 6, investigator Haji Moradi from Branch 2 of the Sacred Prosecutor's Office in Evin, along with two others, went to the women's ward to clarify the charges against Narges Mohammadi, but faced her strong objections and left without clarifying the charges. Last Friday and Saturday, a virtual meeting titled 'Dialogue for Saving Iran' was held. Of the 42 participants in this conference, 23 were from within the country (nine of whom are in prison) and 19 were from abroad. Prior to this meeting, actions against attendees began. Shortly before the meeting, Keyvan Samimi, editor of Iran Farda magazine and president of the Press Freedom Defense Association, who was one of the speakers at the meeting, was arrested by security forces in Tehran on April 20, just three months after being released from prison. Samimi had recorded his speech before his arrest, which was broadcast during the meeting despite his detention. After this virtual meeting, Alireza Beheshti Shirazi, a political activist and advisor to Mir Hossein Mousavi, was also arrested by security forces on Tuesday, May 5. Before his arrest, he stated at the 'Dialogue for Saving Iran' meeting that the window for reforms is completely closed and Iran is on the brink of change. In the latest case, Abdollah Momeni, a sociologist and political activist, was arrested by the Islamic Republic's security forces. According to the human rights website 'HRANA,' on Thursday, May 7, Abdollah Momeni was arrested 'by security forces' at his home and 'transferred to an unknown location.' Additionally, according to the website Khabar Online, close to Mir Hossein Mousavi, security agents also visited the home of Ghorban Behzadian Nejad, a senior advisor to Mousavi, on Tuesday night, where they searched and confiscated some of his belongings, taking his electronic devices with them.
