Judiciary Requests Members of Mojahedin-e Khalq to Introduce Their Lawyers

The media center of the judiciary announced that the Criminal Court of Tehran Province, through a public notice published in 'widely circulated newspapers', has requested 104 'fugitive' members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq organization to introduce their legal representatives to the court. The reason for this notice is stated to be for defense in the ongoing proceedings of a case formed against them. The public notice issued by this court states that 'Considering that based on the indictment dated July 9, 2023, issued by the Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office and referred to the Criminal Court of Tehran Province, and given the inaccessibility and fugitive status of the defendants, this notice is served to the mentioned individuals to take action to introduce a legal representative to this court within one month from the date of publication of this notice.' The published notice includes names such as Massoud Rajavi, Maryam Rajavi, and Mehdi Abrishamchi. In October 2021, Zabihollah Khodaeean, the spokesperson for the Iranian judiciary, mentioned that a lawsuit against 42 former members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq was being processed in Branch 55 of the Tehran Public and Civil Court. According to him, some 'defectors' from the Mojahedin organization and 'a number of people' harmed by the organization had filed lawsuits seeking compensation for their material and moral damages. The Mojahedin-e Khalq organization had also stated that in this case, Massoud and Maryam Rajavi and nineteen other members of the organization, including Mehdi Abrishamchi, were sued. In response to the filing of this lawsuit and its proceedings in Iran, the organization stated that 'the killer is sitting instead of the judge.' Ultimately, the judiciary announced regarding this case that 'the court has examined this matter and issued a ruling in which the leader of the hypocrite group was ordered to pay about 7,660 billion tomans to the victims and those who suffered material and moral damages, and this ruling has become final and enforceable.' It seems that the Islamic Republic officials are preparing to hold a new 'show' under the title of 'court'.
