Judiciary Spokesman: Amir Tataloo Has Not Been Transferred Out of Prison Due to Physical and Mental Illness

In a weekly press conference on Wednesday, February 14, the spokesman for the judiciary reacted to reports about Amir Tataloo being transferred out of prison for treatment, stating that "he is in prison." Masoud Setayesh emphasized that Tataloo has not been transferred out of prison due to physical and mental illness since his arrest and is currently incarcerated. According to Setayesh, a case with an indictment has been sent to the "competent court" and will be addressed in the coming days, with "multiple cases" also underway. The Fars news agency, affiliated with security institutions, reported on Monday, January 1, citing an "informed security source," that the charges against "Amir Tataloo" include "producing and distributing obscene works," "operating a betting website," "encouraging, bribing, or threatening individuals to access obscene content," and "inciting and encouraging individuals to commit crimes against chastity and sexual deviations." Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, known as "Tataloo," was handed over to Iran by Turkish police at the Bazargan border on December 6 and was arrested by judicial order and transferred to Tehran after administrative procedures. The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported that one of Tataloo's most significant actions was the "expansion of corruption and prostitution" and a call for the participation of minors under 18 at his residence in Istanbul. It is unclear whether this singer has had access to a lawyer and legal consultations since his arrest. Qasem Baadi stated that given the history of the judiciary in the Islamic Republic, a fair trial is not expected for Tataloo. Shahla Shafigh remarked that Amir Tataloo is a product of a society where forbidden love and rape are legitimized. A sociological and legal examination of Amir Tataloo and the circumstances of his arrest was discussed with Shahla Shafigh and Qasem Baadi. The role of "informed security sources" continues; a news agency claimed that Tataloo has confessed to producing "obscene artistic works." The judiciary spokesman stated that Tataloo has "multiple cases" in the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office. The Fars news agency reported the continuation of "interrogation" and the existence of four other suspects in the "Amir Tataloo" case. Iranian media reported that no bail has been issued for "Tataloo."
