The unveiling ceremony was attended by professors, history and literature researchers, Iranologists, Persian language instructors from universities across Kazakhstan, and the Consul General of Iran.
Niyaz Tobesh, the editor of the Kazakh-Persian Dictionary compiled by the Iranian scholar Mohammad Shadkam, said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press: “Late Mohammad Shadkam, the most prominent scientific figure among the Kazakhs of Iran in Gorgan, spent ten years collecting and compiling this book.”
“This dictionary was translated from the work of Esmet Kenesbayev, which was published in Almaty, Kazakhstan, between 1970 and 1980, and has now been presented in its current form to readers and enthusiasts of Iranian and Kazakh cultures,” Tobesh added.
Iran and Kazakhstan share numerous cultural and historical commonalities, the most significant of which is the celebration of Nowruz. According to linguistic research, there are nearly 3,500 words shared by the Kazakh and Persian languages.
