Kevin Spacey Denies 'Sexual Assault' Charges Against a Young Man in Court Hearing

Kevin Spacey, a prominent star of cinema and television and former actor of the series 'House of Cards', denied allegations of sexual assault against an 18-year-old man at a bar in Nantucket, Massachusetts, in 2016 during the first court session on Monday, January 7. Spacey did not speak during the session held at the Nantucket local court to review the complaint against him for misdemeanor and sexual assault, but he had submitted his denial of the charges to the court prior to the hearing. Spacey's lawyer requested the judge to order the plaintiff to preserve all information on his mobile phone from the six months following the incident, which occurred on July 7, 2016. According to Spacey's lawyer, this information 'likely exonerates' his client. In documents submitted to the court, it is stated that the plaintiff sent several text messages to his girlfriend regarding his meeting and contact with Kevin Spacey, and none of them mentioned sexual assault. Kevin Spacey, a 59-year-old actor, is one of dozens of prominent men in the entertainment industry, politicians, and famous businessmen who have been accused of sexual harassment and assault following the allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein in 2017. The first and most significant accusation against Spacey was made by Anthony Rapp, an American actor, who claimed that Spacey attempted to seduce him in 1986 when he was 14 years old. Spacey apologized for his behavior towards Rapp. Netflix removed Spacey from the series 'House of Cards' due to this scandal, and his role in the film 'All the Money in the World' was also cut. According to the complaint text in court documents, the plaintiff claimed that Spacey invited him for several glasses of beer and whiskey and told him, 'Let's get drunk.' The plaintiff also alleged that Spacey touched his genitals. The plaintiff's name has not been disclosed as he is currently considered a victim of sexual assault.
