Keyvan Mohtadi Returns from Solitary Confinement to General Ward of Evin Prison

The Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations announced that Keyvan Mohtadi, a labor activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, was returned from solitary confinement to the general ward of the prison on Sunday, September 17. According to HRANA, the news agency of human rights activists in Iran, this imprisoned labor activist was transferred to solitary confinement on September 9 by the order of Mahmoudi, the head of Ward 4 of the prison, and Hedayatollah Farzadi, the head of Evin Prison, as a punitive measure for releasing an audio file. On September 3, 2023, after the transfer of thirteen political prisoners from Evin Prison to Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, he had expressed support for these prisoners by releasing an audio file. He was arrested at his home on May 9, 2022, by government forces and was later transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence detention center known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison to Ward 4 of Evin Prison. The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Mr. Mohtadi in December 2022 to five years in prison for the charge of 'collusion and conspiracy against national security' and one year for 'propaganda against the regime,' which was ultimately confirmed by the Tehran Court of Appeals in March of the previous year. However, he refused to attend this session due to being forced to wear prison clothes and use handcuffs during the transfer.
