Khamenei's Nowruz Message: Year 94 as 'Year of Unity and Understanding'

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, has named year 94 as the year of 'Government and Nation, Unity and Understanding' and described year 93 as a 'dramatic' year for the country, both internally and externally. Meanwhile, Hassan Rouhani, the President, announced three goals for the government in year 94: sustainable growth, increasing non-oil exports, and creating new job opportunities, especially for the youth. According to the state news agency IRNA, in his Nowruz message on the first of Farvardin, Khamenei stated that 'our great aspirations' for the nation this year include economic progress, regional and international power and dignity, and genuine scientific leaps. He mentioned judicial and economic justice, faith, and spirituality as other aspirations for the Iranian nation in the new year, adding that all these demands and aspirations are achievable and none of them are beyond the capacity of the Iranian nation and the policies of the system. Khamenei said, 'This immense and important capacity is achievable, but it has conditions; one of the most important conditions is sincere cooperation between the nation and the government.' In previous years, along with his Nowruz message, the leader has also announced a name for the new solar year. Following this tradition, he had named year 93 as 'National Determination and Jihadi Management.' Concurrently with Khamenei's remarks, President Hassan Rouhani also stated in his Nowruz message: 'Today, there is no longer a competition to sanction Iran; today, there is a competition to reach an understanding with Iran.' He added, 'We have established the nuclear rights of this nation; we have broken the sanctions organization.' Nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 countries continued until the last day of year 93 in Lausanne, Switzerland. According to the U.S. State Department, the continuation of negotiations with the Islamic Republic has been postponed to the following week, Wednesday, the fifth of Farvardin 94. In his Nowruz message, the Iranian President referred to the upcoming elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts in year 94, stating that a better environment for party activities must be created and 'we must raise the threshold of tolerance.' The Guardian Council of Iran has set the seventh of Esfand 94 as the date for the upcoming elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts. In his Nowruz message in year 93, the Iranian President stated that all the government's efforts are aimed at ensuring that people have a more comfortable life, less worry, and more confidence in the future of the country and their children.
