Khamenei's Senior Advisor Threatens Israeli Embassies: We Must Wait to See How It Will Unfold

Continuing the threats from high-ranking Iranian officials against Israel, Yahya Rahim Safavi, assistant and senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, claimed on Sunday, April 8, that no Israeli embassy is safe anymore. Referring to Ali Khamenei's stance and threats against Israel following the deadly attack attributed to this country on the Islamic Republic's consulate in Damascus, he stated, "The resistance front is ready. We must wait to see how it will unfold." The Islamic Republic uses the term "resistance front" for the network of its supported militia groups in the Middle East, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and its Shiite proxies in Iraq. The attack attributed to Israel on Tuesday, April 2, on the Islamic Republic's consulate building in Damascus resulted in the deaths of seven high-ranking members of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including Mohammad Reza Zahidi, the head of the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon. Israel, following its recent practice, refrains from commenting on attacks attributed to it in Syria against the positions of the Islamic Republic and its proxy groups. After the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of over 250 others, Israel launched an offensive against Gaza aimed at destroying this Islamist group supported by the Islamic Republic and freeing the hostages. Although the Iranian government has not directly attacked Israel in recent months, it has praised the ongoing attacks by its proxy groups against Israel and U.S. positions in the region, calling for their continuation. Amid unprecedented tensions between the Iranian government and Israel, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Foreign Minister, left Tehran on Sunday at the head of a political and parliamentary delegation for Muscat, the capital of Oman. According to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, discussions about regional issues, including developments in Gaza, will be among the topics of Amir-Abdollahian's negotiations with Omani officials. Israel claims it is prepared for a possible confrontation with the Islamic Republic. The U.S. warns the Islamic Republic not to use the Israeli attack on Damascus as a pretext to target its personnel and facilities. American media report that the Islamic Republic is preparing for "retaliation" against the Israeli attack on its consulate in Syria. The United States is on full alert for a confrontation with the threats from the Islamic Republic. Hezbollah in Lebanon states that Iran's response is on the way, while Israel claims it is ready with multi-layered defense. A political group in Iran emphasized Mohammad Reza Zahidi's role in Hamas's attacks on Israel.
