Khosrow Alikordi Arrested; Transfer of This Lawyer to an Unknown Location

Khosrow Alikordi, a lawyer who was serving his sentence under 'open prison' conditions, was summoned and arrested, then transferred to an unknown location. The 'open prison' system is an 'executive system' in Iranian prisons that allows certain prisoners to engage in activities outside the prison under specific conditions. According to HRANA, a media outlet for human rights activists in Iran, Alikordi was summoned on Tuesday by the supervising judge of Vakilabad prison in Mashhad and subsequently arrested, but 'no information has been obtained regarding his place of detention so far.' Khosrow Alikordi is a lawyer for several political prisoners and families seeking justice in Mashhad, who has faced multiple fabricated charges and has previously been imprisoned. Last summer, he was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad to one year in prison, two years of exile to the city of Nehbadan, two years of travel ban, two years of prohibition from practicing law, and two years of restriction from social media for 'propaganda activities in favor of groups opposing the Islamic Republic.' He was also fined 15 million tomans in a criminal court for 'spreading falsehoods through computer systems and failing to maintain secrets.' Alikordi has previously emphasized in a message that he has been sentenced to imprisonment, exile, and social restrictions solely for informing about his clients' cases. Pressure on human rights lawyers by Iranian intelligence and judicial authorities has been reported multiple times and has intensified in recent years.
