Kian Pirfalak's Mother: 'I Have to Close My Son's Memorial Page for Reasons'

Mahmanir Molaei Rad, the mother of Kian Pirfalak, a child killed by the Islamic Republic forces in Izeh, stated that she is 'forced for reasons' to close her Instagram page, which was created to keep the memory of her deceased son alive. On Tuesday, February 5, she shared an Instagram story with a picture of her son Kian and his cousin Pouya Molaei Rad, who was also killed. In her message, which began with 'In the name of the Rainbow God, the God of Pouya, the God of Kian,' she addressed 'good-hearted and free-spirited people,' stating: 'I am Mahmanir Molaei Rad, the mother of the immortal Kian Pirfalak. For certain reasons, I have to close this page, which was meant to keep the name and memory of my dear Kian and Pouya alive and is my only official page.' Molaei Rad thanked those who have supported her and her family over the past two years, saying: 'May you be united and proud under the protection of the Rainbow God!' This Instagram account was previously taken down due to government pressure. Earlier, she had expressed a wish during the Yalda night that this 'would be the last winter of our bitter days.' Kian Pirfalak, a 9-year-old from Izeh, was shot and killed by the Islamic Republic forces while traveling with his family on November 16, 2022. His father, Meysam Pirfalak, was severely injured in the incident and continues to undergo treatment over two years later. On June 21 of the following year, while the Pirfalak family was at Kian's grave to celebrate his 10th birthday, his cousin Pouya Molaei Rad, a 19-year-old, was also shot and killed by government forces. Pressure continues on the families of the victims of nationwide protests and those executed by the Islamic Republic.
