Kirby: 'All-Out War' with Hezbollah or Iran Will Not Restore Security to Northern Israel

John Kirby, the National Security Council's Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House, announced on Sunday that Israel cannot ensure the safe return of residents in northern Israel to their homes through an 'all-out war' against Hezbollah or the Iranian government. Israel claims that tens of thousands of its residents have been forced to leave their homes in the north due to Hezbollah's attacks. Kirby also stated that U.S. support for Israel's security is unwavering and will not change. After the Israeli army reported on Saturday, October 7, the death of Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Hezbollah eventually confirmed the death of its Secretary-General in these attacks. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his first public remarks following Nasrallah's death, described the action as a 'necessary condition' for achieving Israel's military objectives, including the return of residents in northern areas to their homes. U.S. President Joe Biden, in a statement regarding Nasrallah's death, stated: 'Hassan Nasrallah and Hezbollah, the terrorist group he commands, have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans over four decades of terror. His death following the Israeli airstrike is seen as justice for his countless victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians.' A video from the Israeli army showed airstrikes on Hezbollah's military infrastructure in Lebanon. The Israeli ambassador to the UN called for the Security Council to sanction the Iranian government. Nabil Qaouq, a senior Hezbollah official, was killed in the Israeli attack, and Hezbollah confirmed that Ali Korki, the commander of the southern front, was also killed in the Israeli strike.
