Kourosh Asadi, Author of 'Poke-Baz', Passes Away

Kourosh Asadi, a novelist and author of books such as 'Poke-Baz' and 'Bagh-e Melli', passed away on Friday evening, July 2, at the age of 52. The cause of Mr. Asadi's death has not yet been announced, and the only information available from Iranian news agencies indicates that he died at his home in Tehran. Nimaj Publishing, which published Asadi's latest books, has also reported that his body has been transferred to the Tehran forensic medicine for investigation. The short story collection 'Zir Gonbad-e Kabud' and the novel 'Kucheh Abrhaye Gomshodeh' are other works by this author that were published in Tehran over the past two years. Among his works, the short story collection 'Bagh-e Melli' won him the Golshiri Story Writing Award in 2004. Houshang Golshiri, a significant figure in Kourosh Asadi's literary journey, facilitated his literary activities through his writing workshops. Asadi's first short story collection, 'Poke-Baz', was published by Agah Publishing in 1999 as part of the 'Shahrzad' book series, which was initiated and selected by Golshiri. However, Asadi, having found his place in contemporary Iranian fiction, had recently been teaching a new generation of aspiring writers. Kourosh Asadi's death has resonated widely among Iranian writers and literary critics, who have expressed their condolences on social media. Reports indicate that his body will be buried at Behesht Zahra's notable section at 10 AM on Tuesday, following a funeral procession from the Artists' House.
