Last Efforts on the Final Day; Clinton Leads in Polls with 45% of Votes

Hours before the presidential election in the United States, the latest polls indicate a four percent lead for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate, over her Republican rival, Donald Trump. According to a report from Reuters on Monday, November 8, one day before the U.S. presidential election, a CBS News poll shows that 45% of voters support Mrs. Clinton, while Donald Trump has the support of 41% of them. CBS, which conducted this poll, explained that the results are similar to last week's survey by the network, and only a small number of participants indicated that they might change their opinion before voting. This poll was conducted from November 2 to 6 among a sample of 1,753 American adults, and the organizers have accounted for a three percent margin of error in the results. According to the findings, Mr. Trump continues to lead in attracting votes from white men, whites without higher education, and older voters, while Mrs. Clinton enjoys more support among women, African Americans, and young voters, with her support among college-educated whites showing little difference from Trump's supporters in this group. CBS also noted that a large majority of voters are steadfast in their choices just one day before the election, with only five percent stating they might change their preferred candidate before voting. Additionally, voters who do not support either of the two main candidates are more likely to change their final vote, with CBS's findings indicating that among this group, one in five may change their chosen candidate by the time they reach the polls. Besides Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are also running as candidates for the Libertarian and Green parties, respectively, but their support is significantly lower than that of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump. In the four-way CBS poll that examined the votes for all four candidates, Mrs. Clinton remains ahead of Mr. Trump by a four percent margin. Just before the release of these results, a joint poll by The Washington Post and ABC News was also published, showing similar findings and placing Mrs. Clinton four percent ahead of Mr. Trump. In addition to states that are guaranteed to vote for one of these two candidates or lean towards one of them, the three states of New Hampshire, Utah, and Florida are the main battlegrounds in the final days of the campaign, and Mr. Trump must secure votes in Florida and Utah along with several Democrat-leaning states for a potential victory, while it is sufficient for Mrs. Clinton to ensure her votes in states that lean towards the Democrats.
