Latest Report by Asma Jahangir and the Conversion of Mohammad Ali Taheri's Death Sentence to Imprisonment

Asma Jahangir, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, passed away a month ago due to a heart attack, but her last report was published last week. This report is set to be discussed at the Human Rights Council in Geneva and contains concerns and criticisms regarding the actions of Iranian officials in the field of human rights. Issues such as the violation of the right to freedom of expression, the detention of political and civil activists and media personnel, mistreatment and abuse in prisons, the issuance of flogging and amputation sentences, the imposition of internet restrictions and filtering, and discrimination against women and ethnic and religious minorities are highlighted. The report also mentions the detention of protesters from the December protests in Iran and the deaths of several detainees in prison.
