Lavasan Forest Park Reserved for Qalibaf's Daughter's Wedding?

Lavasan Forest Park spans over a thousand hectares, but an Iranian news site claims that the entire park was reserved for the wedding of Tehran's mayor's daughter. According to ArchitecNews, a site focused on architecture and urban planning, the wedding of Maryam Qalibaf, daughter of Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, took place on the evening of Friday, July 9. However, the municipality of Tehran's fourth district was on 'full alert' for 'four days' in relation to this event. ArchitecNews added that not only was the entrance to Lavasan Forest 'decorated with lights days in advance,' but also that from Friday afternoon 'the main gates of the forest park were closed to the public so that citizens could not enter.' The news site has published images of the wedding invitation and reported that the municipality hastily paved and repaired the roads leading to the park's restaurant, a reference to a term the mayor likes to use to describe his management style. The response from the Tehran municipality to this report was very harsh. In a statement released by the municipality's public relations office, the news was described as 'completely false' and stated that its publication was 'part of the unethical attacks against the mayor of Tehran by a lying website.' The Tehran municipality has threatened that 'the mayor's right to pursue legal action against the publishers of this rumor will be preserved.' To reinforce their position, the municipality also released a video showing several people claiming they visited Lavasan Park for recreation on Friday afternoon and were not prevented from entering. However, ArchitecNews insisted on its initial report, stating that the Tehran municipality 'not only acted unlawfully and violated citizens' rights' but also 'accuses the media and shamelessly lies.' This critical news site added that after the initial report was published, municipal agents removed barriers and 'pretended as if no restrictions had been imposed on citizens.' ArchitecNews has also published other images that apparently show the closure of access routes to Lavasan Forest Park. Regardless of whether the truth lies with ArchitecNews or the Tehran municipality, the wedding of Mr. Qalibaf's daughter took place at the scheduled time and location. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the mayor of Tehran, has two sons and one daughter. Before becoming the mayor of Tehran, he was the commander of the Islamic Republic's police force and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' air force. Mr. Qalibaf has also tried his luck a couple of times for the presidency of Iran, but without success.
