Lawyer of Saman Yasin: Necessary Medical Documents for My Client's Release Have Not Been Sent to Court

The lawyer of Saman Yasin (Seydi), the imprisoned rapper, states that despite the existence of medical "documents" leading to "inability to endure imprisonment" and the release of his client, these documents have not been sent to the court. Ramin Safarnia Kheshtavani, a lawyer, emphasized that according to the "report from Razavi Hospital in Tehran," Saman Yasin's "illnesses" are evident, but according to the judge of Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, this report has not yet been sent to the Revolutionary Court. This lawyer has called for the facilitation of presenting the documents from Razavi Hospital to the forensic doctor to provide an opinion on Saman Yasin's "physical condition" so that he can be released after 18 months of detention by canceling his temporary detention and securing bail. Ramin Safarnia Kheshtavani also explained in a note on "X" that sending the medical report from Razavi Hospital to the Revolutionary Court is essential for issuing a certificate of inability to endure imprisonment and the release of his client. This protesting rapper had previously reported on his torture, including mock executions, forced confessions, being taken to a mental hospital, a broken nose, and damage to his mental and physical health. Saman Yasin was arrested in early October 2022 and initially sentenced to death for charges of "moharebeh" (waging war against God), "conspiracy and collusion to commit a crime," and "acting against national security," which was later overturned by the Supreme Court. During more than 18 months of temporary detention, he has been deprived of access to a chosen lawyer, and his defense was previously handled by a court-appointed lawyer named Hossein Sartipi. The human rights organization Hengaw criticized the performance of this court-appointed lawyer, accusing him of "whitewashing the show trials of the Islamic Republic." This Kurdish artist has been transferred to various prisons since his arrest and is currently held in the section for "drug-related crimes" at Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj. The United States condemned the torture of Saman Yasin, calling it a violation of human rights and contrary to respect for human dignity. The human rights organization Hengaw accused Saman Yasin's court-appointed lawyer of "whitewashing the show trials of the Islamic Republic." Saman Yasin was sentenced to five years of exile in Kerman; his imprisoned lawyer stated: "I will protest." Saman Yasin, the imprisoned rapper, was sent to the hospital months after his nose was broken. Hadi Laveh, a singer from Ushnaviyeh, was arrested with "violence."
