Leak of Confidential Documents; "Mossad Disagrees with Netanyahu on Iran's Nuclear Program"

A large volume of confidential documents from organizations such as Mossad and intelligence agencies from Britain, Russia, and South Africa has been leaked and will soon be published. According to one of these documents, Mossad has a view on Iran's nuclear program that contradicts that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Al Jazeera reported on Monday, February 23, that these documents have reached the network and will gradually be published in collaboration with The Guardian. The Guardian reported that these documents show that Mossad's assessments and evaluations do not align with Netanyahu's statements regarding the potential timeline for Iran's acquisition of a nuclear bomb. Part of the documents, obtained from communications of the South African intelligence agency, indicates that based on intelligence assessments, "Iran does not have enough uranium for further enrichment." In a speech in 2012 at the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu warned of the danger of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons by showing a chart about Iran's path to a nuclear bomb. The news site Business Insider also reported that this is the largest leak of intelligence documents since Edward Snowden. Snowden left the U.S. for Hong Kong and published extensive documents about surveillance programs and access to emails and private information of American citizens. He currently resides in Russia. The intelligence documents to be published by Al Jazeera and The Guardian do not include any documents from American intelligence agencies. The documents pertain to intelligence organizations from Russia, Israel, Britain, South Africa, and Australia. Al Jazeera stated that the release of these documents will open a new perspective on intelligence organizations worldwide. These documents date back to the years 2006 to December 2014. The Guardian and Al Jazeera have stated that they are reviewing these documents to keep the names of individuals mentioned confidential to protect the lives of anyone or potential sources referenced in these reports. Business Insider's report indicates that these documents will include "Israel's actual assessments regarding the progress of Iran's nuclear program," MI6's plan for "training spies in North Korea," and plans to target the leader of the African Union. Additionally, the documents contain coordination and communication records among personnel from organizations such as Mossad and MI6 with American intelligence agencies and the South African intelligence agency, as well as other intelligence actors in the Middle East and Asia. Before the leak of documents by Edward Snowden, WikiLeaks had published a large volume of documents related to the U.S. State Department and the Department of Defense. Julian Assange was pursued in Sweden on charges related to a sexual case and still resides in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The WikiLeaks leak was related to Chelsea Manning, a U.S. Army soldier who was tried and sentenced to a long prison term.
