Legal Case Formed Against a Grieving Family in Sanandaj

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported on Friday, February 15, that pressure continues on grieving families, stating that Arzu and Afshin Manbari, siblings of Payman Manbari, one of the victims of the protests in 2022 in Sanandaj, along with three other relatives, have been threatened and pressured by security agencies, and a legal case has been formed against three of them in the Sanandaj judiciary. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network added that members of the Payman Manbari family have been summoned by the second investigative branch of the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office on charges of 'propaganda against the regime' and 'disturbing public order and tranquility.' According to reports, the Manbari family has been summoned and threatened multiple times by agents of the Sanandaj Information Office in recent months, warning that if they continue their activities, they will face arrest and legal action. Payman Manbari, a 25-year-old citizen from Sanandaj, was shot and killed by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on October 8, 2022, during protests over the death of Mahsa Amini while in the custody of the morality police in the city. Earlier, on Thursday, February 15, Mina Soltani, the mother of Shahrivar Mohammadi, another victim of the nationwide protests in 2022, was summoned to the criminal court in Boukan on charges such as not adhering to mandatory hijab and 'propaganda against the regime.' Ms. Soltani had been arrested in September of this year, just before the anniversary of the nationwide protests over Mahsa Amini's death in custody in Boukan. Shahrivar Mohammadi, a 28-year-old protester from Boukan, was killed on November 19, 2022, during the crackdown on nationwide protests by the Islamic Republic's forces.
