Legal Cases Filed Against 10 Women's Salons in Bandar Abbas; An Instagram User Arrested

Following the announcement of the closure of 10 women's salons in Bandar Abbas due to what has been termed 'unconventional advertising on social media,' legal cases have been filed against their owners. The Intelligence Organization of the Police Command in Kish announced on Tuesday, September 20, that 10 women's salons in Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province, have been closed for 'unconventional advertising on social media,' and the operator of an Instagram page has been arrested on charges of publishing 'norm-breaking images and disturbing public opinion.' According to reports from news agencies in Iran, after the closure of the 10 women's salons in central Hormozgan province, legal cases have been filed against their owners for 'failure to comply with the laws and regulations of the country, conducting unconventional advertising on social media, and not adhering to security regulations after the necessary coordination for the closure.' Based on these reports, an Instagram user has also been arrested by the 'Cyber Center' of the Intelligence Organization of the Police Command in Kish, identified as the 'operator of the Instagram page,' with claims of 'publishing norm-breaking images and disturbing public opinion.' This organization has also announced that the Instagram page of this user has been 'cleansed and deleted.' Concurrently, as pressure on women to enforce mandatory hijab increases, civil disobedience against it has also risen.
