Letter from Two Political Prisoners to Prince Reza Pahlavi: Remain the United Voice of the Iranian Nation

Reza Mohammadi Hosseini and Zartosht Ahmadi Raghb, two political prisoners held in Qazal Hesar prison, in a letter to Prince Reza Pahlavi, have expressed their hope for the victory of the light of freedom over the darkness of tyranny, asking him to remain the 'loud and united voice of the Iranian nation' and to continue on his 'proud path.' In the letter, which reached Voice of America on Wednesday, January 26, the two political prisoners, who describe themselves as 'concerned about the future of the homeland,' urged Prince Reza Pahlavi to play a more prominent role in the 'struggle to abolish and prevent the execution of death sentences' by leading and aligning with human rights activists. They stated, 'We are proud to speak to you at this critical juncture in Iran's history,' emphasizing that his role as a prominent and respected figure in the Iranian freedom struggle has always been a source of hope and inspiration. They praised his efforts in strengthening national unity and commitment to the values of freedom, justice, and human rights, noting that the significant responsibility he carries has made him a symbol of solidarity and national unity. They stressed the belief that 'the transition from tyranny to freedom requires the empathy and cooperation of all segments of the Iranian nation,' and requested that he be the voice of all political and ideological prisoners, regardless of their affiliations, beliefs, ethnicities, and languages. They highlighted that these honorable men and women, who are imprisoned for standing against oppression and defending human dignity, need his support and that of all free individuals. Furthermore, they called on Prince Reza Pahlavi to play a more prominent role in the fight against the death penalty, as they believe that 'the double-edged sword of execution, wielded by the dictatorial rulers of the Islamic Republic through the leverage of religion and law, has always imposed a message of violence and repression on society.' They concluded by emphasizing the necessity of 'unity and solidarity' and requested that he send a clear message of support for the right to life, freedom, and justice for all Iranians to the world, stating that this approach could inspire all Iranians both inside and outside the country and illuminate the path to a bright and free future.
