Mahbubeh Rezaei and Behrouz Izadi Rad, Political Activists, Arrested

News sources have reported that Mahbubeh Rezaei, a constitutionalist political activist, was arrested by security officials on Monday, May 22. Just hours earlier, she had reported the re-arrest of Behrouz Izadi Rad, a former political prisoner. Arsham Rezaei, an activist and former political prisoner, tweeted that Mahbubeh Rezaei, a former political prisoner from Bushehr, was arrested by the intelligence agents of the IRGC. Currently, there is no information available regarding the location and reason for Ms. Rezaei's arrest. Recently, she had announced on her Instagram page the arrest of Behrouz Izadi Rad, a Baloch nationalist activist. The Halosh website, which follows news related to Baloch citizens, had previously reported that Behrouz Izadi Rad, one of the detainees from the nationwide protests, was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison by the first branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Aliabad Katul. The Twitter account '1500 Images' reported that Mr. Izadi Rad was arrested on May 15 during a raid on his home, just days after he survived an assassination attempt on May 11. Despite the release of a significant number of political prisoners and detainees under the title of 'Leader's Amnesty' in Bahman 1401, which some human rights organizations deemed 'hypocritical' and 'performative', the wave of arrests of political activists has intensified again. Previously, Reza Mohammadi, who was released in Bahman, was re-arrested following a request to list the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Additionally, in line with the demands of some activists inside Iran, a group of constitutionalist women held a 20-day sit-in in front of the German Chancellor's office to call for the IRGC to be recognized as a terrorist organization.
