Majid Tavakoli Arrested to Serve 5-Year Prison Sentence

Majid Tavakoli's wife announced his arrest in a post on social media platform 'X,' stating, 'They took my Majid.' Speculation surrounds his arrest for the execution of a '5-year prison sentence' that had been pending in 'execution of sentences' in recent weeks. Majid Tavakoli, a political activist, had previously reported in July about his conviction by the Islamic Revolutionary Court for his 'writings and posts' over recent years, resulting in a '6-year prison sentence.' According to this ruling, Majid Tavakoli was also sentenced to '2 years of prohibition from virtual activities, 2 years of prohibition from residing in Tehran, and 2 years of prohibition from leaving the country' under the title of 'supplementary punishment.' Tavakoli was arrested during the nationwide protests last year and was temporarily released in late Azar 1401.
