Makan Delrahim; Deputy Legal Advisor to Trump

Makan Delrahim, an Iranian-American lawyer serving as the Deputy Legal Advisor to President Donald Trump, was born in Shiraz and educated at top universities in both the West and East of America. Before joining Trump's cabinet, Delrahim was a partner at a private legal organization in Washington, representing several major American companies, including Oracle, while also teaching at prestigious universities such as Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. In 1998, he served as a legal advisor to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he was promoted to Chief Counsel and Legal Staff Director after two years. During George W. Bush's first term in 2003, he was appointed to the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, where he served for three years. Delrahim earned his Juris Doctor (JD) from George Washington University Law School and holds a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University, having completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Although not among the older politicians, he is a seasoned figure among Republicans in legal disputes against Democrats. In an article published in the New York Post in March 2016, prior to Trump's election, he stated that although Trump was not his first choice, Republicans should support him to prevent Hillary Clinton's victory and the Democrats' takeover of the Supreme Court. About ten days after Delrahim's appointment as Deputy Legal Advisor at the White House, President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. Delrahim is married and has three young children.
