Manouchehr Bakhtiari, Political Prisoner, Re-Trialed Again

The wife of Manouchehr Bakhtiari, a political prisoner held in Chubin Dar, Qazvin, reported that the father of the justice-seeking Pouya was re-trialed on "baseless charges." Sara Abasi announced on Tuesday, April 17, by posting a picture of her husband's summons on her Instagram page, that Branch 110 of the Criminal Court 2 in Qazvin held a video conference trial for Manouchehr Bakhtiari. The charge against the father of justice-seeker Pouya Bakhtiari is "spreading falsehoods through computer systems." Sara Abasi wrote: "The baseless charges against Manouchehr Bakhtiari seem endless." According to HRANA, the news agency of human rights activists, the interrogation session for Manouchehr Bakhtiari regarding this case was held on March 13 of the previous year without this political prisoner having access to a lawyer. Sara Abasi mentioned her husband's "crime" as "seeking justice" and "being a father," stating: "Today marks 1084 days that my husband Manouchehr Bakhtiari has been in prison for seeking justice and 645 days in solitary confinement in Qazvin prison in exile for being a father." This family member of political prisoners warned about the "danger to" Manouchehr Bakhtiari's life, stating he has "been severely ill for about 2 years" and "urgently needs hernia and prostate surgery." Sara Abasi emphasized the accountability of the Islamic Republic regime regarding her husband's life, adding: "The regime is trying to eliminate him in complete silence due to his illness." Manouchehr Bakhtiari, the father of justice-seeker Pouya Bakhtiari, who lost his life during the nationwide protests in 2019, was arrested on April 28, 2021, and sentenced to "three years and six months in prison, two years and six months in exile, and two years of travel ban." This political prisoner, who is currently in Chubin Dar prison in Qazvin, has been sentenced to long prison terms in multiple cases that have been brought against him. According to Sara Abasi, the judiciary of the Islamic Republic has sentenced her imprisoned husband to 29 years of imprisonment and exile through "case-making." Manouchehr Bakhtiari's wife states that the life of this justice-seeking prisoner is "in danger."
