Manouchehr Bakhtiari Sentenced to an Additional 13 Months and 15 Days in Prison Following 'Case Fabrication in Prison'

Following 'case fabrication in prison' against Manouchehr Bakhtiari, the father of the seeking justice for Pouya Bakhtiari, who is currently in Chubin Dar prison in Qazvin, he has been sentenced again by the Criminal Court 2 of this province to '13 months and 15 days in prison'. According to a report by HRANA, the media organ of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, based on a ruling recently issued by Branch 110 of the Criminal Court 2 of Qazvin province, which was communicated to him today, Sunday, 23rd of Ordibehesht, in prison, this seeking justice prisoner has been sentenced for the charge of 'spreading falsehoods through computer systems'. The mentioned court session was held via video conference on 28th of Farvardin in prison for Manouchehr Bakhtiari. Manouchehr Bakhtiari was last violently arrested in his home on 9th of Ordibehesht 1400 by an intelligence agency and was initially transferred to the Central Prison of Karaj and then in the summer of 1401 to Chubin Dar prison in Qazvin. The father of the seeking justice for Pouya Bakhtiari, a young protester killed during the nationwide protests of November 98 in Mehrshahr, Alborz province, who is serving a sentence of 'three years and six months imprisonment, two years and six months exile, and two years of travel ban', has faced repeated case fabrications from judicial and intelligence officials during his imprisonment. Manouchehr Bakhtiari was sentenced to an additional six months in prison last November by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Qazvin, which was confirmed by the appellate court of Qazvin province. His wife has stated that this seeking justice prisoner’s life is 'in danger'. Furthermore, another case was formed against this seeking justice prisoner during his imprisonment by Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Karaj, where he was sentenced to 18 years in prison and 74 lashes based on the ruling of Judge Mousa Asf al-Hosseini. This ruling was overturned in the appellate court of Alborz province, and the case was sent for reconsideration to a parallel branch. Human rights organizations have repeatedly protested against the pressures exerted by the Islamic Republic on seekers of justice and the families of victims of nationwide protests. The repeated case fabrications against Manouchehr Bakhtiari in prison and the continued imprisonment of Nahid Shirpich, the parents of Pouya Bakhtiari, the ongoing detention of Mashallah Karami, the father of executed protester Mohammad Mehdi Karami in a state of uncertainty, and the renewed detention of Farzad Moazami, the cousin of Reza Moazami Goudarzi, are just a few instances among dozens of arrests and case fabrications against seekers of justice.
