Mark Wallace: Zarif is Deceptive Like Joachim von Ribbentrop, Hitler's Foreign Minister

The head of the "United Against Nuclear Iran" organization, Mark Wallace, described Mohammad Javad Zarif as similar to "Joachim von Ribbentrop, Hitler's Foreign Minister during Nazi Germany" in an exclusive interview with Voice of America on Wednesday, February 3, 1403. He condemned Zarif's remarks at the Davos summit, questioning his statements and asserting that wherever Zarif appears on behalf of the Iranian regime, it indicates that the regime is resorting to propaganda and is in need of deceitful promotion and seeking a deal. Wallace stated, "Zarif is a very large actor and liar, just like Joachim von Ribbentrop, who falsely portrays the inhumane behavior of the regime towards the people of Iran to the world and aims to sow discord among American politicians to convince them to negotiate with the Islamic Republic." In another part of his conversation with Voice of America regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, Wallace emphasized, "Based on my long understanding of the Islamic Republic, I can confidently say that the Iranian regime is never pursuing non-military objectives in its nuclear program, and the only goal of the Iranian government in its nuclear activities is to achieve the capability to threaten the United States, Israel, and regional countries." He further commented on the new U.S. Secretary of State's threat to activate the snapback mechanism against Iran's nuclear activities, stating, "The reality is that the Islamic Republic has violated the JCPOA, and the snapback mechanism should have been activated sooner, and international sanctions should have been imposed against the Iranian government." Wallace also described the Iranian regime's threat to exit the NPT as "ridiculous," asserting that the Islamic Republic has never cooperated properly with the NPT to now threaten the world with leaving this treaty. He concluded by emphasizing, "The Trump administration will not tolerate the regime's extremely malicious activities in the region and will not accept enrichment for military purposes; therefore, the Islamic Republic must stop its 60% enrichment, which has only military applications, sooner rather than later." Mohammad Javad Zarif, the strategic deputy of Masoud Pezeshkian, on Wednesday, February 3, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, stated in an interview with Fareed Zakaria of CNN, "If you walk the streets of Tehran, you will see that some women do not wear hijabs, and despite the fact that this action is illegal, the government has decided not to pressure women." He also attributed Donald Trump's withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 to the efforts of his advisors like John Bolton, National Security Advisor, Mike Pompeo, Secretary of State, and Brian Hook, who was responsible for Iran in his previous administration, and noted the absence of any of these individuals in the new Trump administration, expressing hope that this time, Trump would be "more serious, focused, and realistic." Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, also urged the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, February 3, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to take the first step towards improving relations with regional countries and the U.S. and clarify that it does not intend to produce nuclear weapons. Rafael Grossi, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, also stated on Tuesday, February 2, that the Iranian government must reach an understanding with the new U.S. administration regarding its nuclear activities to prevent another military conflict in the Middle East.
