Masih Alinejad at Munich Conference: Iranian Women Want to Overthrow the Islamic Republic

Masih Alinejad, a human rights activist, speaking on the sidelines of the second night of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, pointed out the severe repression of opponents of the Islamic Republic in Iran, stating that the people, especially women, have no intention other than to overthrow the Tehran regime. This women's rights activist, participating in a panel titled 'Voices of Civil Resistance' hosted by Hillary Clinton, added: 'Women in my country want to bring down the regime, which is why the Islamic Republic labels them as whores or troublemaking women. I want to represent the brave women of Iran here and I am happy to be called a troublemaker.' Alinejad spoke at this panel, which included civil activists from Myanmar and Belarus, about the rising number of executions in Iran, the strikes by women in prison, and the civil resistance of women in Iran, emphasizing the need to support Iranian fighters. The Munich Security Conference organizers have, for the second consecutive year, refrained from inviting officials from the Islamic Republic and Russia to this conference, inviting a group of Iranian government opponents instead. Concurrently with the second day of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, February 17, a number of opponents of the Islamic Republic and victims of the 2022 protests welcomed the exclusion of the Islamic Republic from this meeting and once again called for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be placed on Europe's list of terrorist organizations. This year marks the 60th edition of the Munich Security Conference, which lasts three days.
