Master's Degree in Iranian Studies Approved for Iranian Universities

After 300 years since the establishment of the first Iranian Studies department in the world, this year, for the first time in Iran, a master's degree program in Iranian Studies has been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education. The first department of Iranian Studies and Persian language instruction in the world was established approximately 300 years ago at the University of Oriental Studies and African Studies in St. Petersburg, Russia. According to 'Heritage News' and the public relations office of the Foundation for Iranian Studies, during a meeting of the Higher Education Expansion Council, three specializations for the master's program in Iranian Studies were approved: General Iranian Studies; Iranian Studies - Culture, Customs, and Cultural Heritage; and Iranian Studies - History. One of the conditions for admission to these programs is holding at least a bachelor's degree in one of the fields of archaeology, Persian language and literature, social sciences, geography, law, family studies, economics, library science, history, architecture and urban planning, tourism management, political science, cultural affairs, cultural management, civil engineering, handicrafts and traditional arts, museum studies, restoration and revitalization of historical buildings, calligraphy and painting, industrial arts, and art research. Additionally, having no legal prohibitions and passing an entrance exam are also among the conditions for admission to this field. This program has been approved at the suggestion of the Foundation for Iranian Studies, and classes will also be held at the Foundation for Iranian Studies.
