McMaster: Iran's Issues Will Be Central to Trump's Discussions in Davos

National Security Advisor Donald Trump states that during the U.S. President's meetings at the economic gathering in Switzerland, the topic of Iran's 'destabilizing activities,' missile program, and the nuclear agreement will be discussed. H.R. McMaster, on the 3rd of Bahman, mentioned in a White House press conference that the U.S. President will focus on 'our efforts to counter Iran's destabilizing activities that lead to violence across the Middle East, as well as Iran's ballistic missile activities and the fundamental flaws in the nuclear agreement.' Economic security, North Korean denuclearization, and counter-terrorism are other issues Trump will discuss with world leaders. McMaster noted that Trump will talk with British Prime Minister Theresa May about the Syrian crisis and Iran's actions and the problems with the nuclear agreement. During the Swiss gathering, the U.S. President will also meet with the Israeli Prime Minister, where they will discuss 'efforts to reduce Iran's influence in the Middle East.' The U.S. government is seeking reforms and changes to the nuclear agreement. Donald Trump set a deadline of January 12 for Congress and other signatories of the nuclear deal with Iran to amend the treaty based on conditions he specified. The issue of missile tests capable of carrying nuclear warheads by Iran has repeatedly faced protests and criticism from the United States and its European allies. Critics view these tests as 'violative' or 'inconsistent' with UN Security Council resolutions and contributing to instability in the Middle East. Iran has rejected renegotiation of the nuclear agreement, stating that its missile program is 'defensive' and these missiles are not intended to carry nuclear warheads, as the development of nuclear weapons is not on Tehran's agenda. Donald Trump will head to Davos on Wednesday and will discuss with several world leaders and key economic and international figures. Before leaving Switzerland, he will speak at a public session of the Davos gathering on Friday. Trump is the first U.S. President in 20 years to attend the Davos meeting.
