Meeting of US and Israeli Officials at the White House; We Are Coordinated to Prevent Iran from Acquiring Nuclear Weapons

On Thursday, June 1, the National Security Advisor of the White House hosted several high-ranking Israeli officials, emphasizing the US government's commitment to further strengthening Israel's security and integrity. Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor, who hosted Tzachi Hanegbi, Israel's National Security Advisor, and Ron Dermer, the country's Minister of Strategic Affairs, expressed shared concerns with the Israeli side regarding the deepening military relations between Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, underscoring the importance of supporting Ukraine in defending its territory and citizens and countering Iranian attack drones. The two sides also announced that they would continue discussions on increasing coordination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and ways to counter the threats posed by the Islamic Republic and its proxy forces, following the work of the 'US-Israel Strategic Advisory Group.' Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also remarked on Thursday regarding reports about a potential agreement between the US and the Islamic Republic, stating, 'I have a clear message for the Islamic Republic and the international community: Israel will do whatever it takes to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.' The Israeli Defense Minister also stated that due to the 'escalating threats from the Islamic Republic,' Israel may need to take action directly to 'defend the country and the future of the Jewish people.' Yoav Gallant emphasized, 'Given the increasing threats facing Israel and the International Atomic Energy Agency's report indicating that Iran has enough enriched uranium to produce two nuclear bombs, we may be asked to fulfill our duty to protect the integrity of the State of Israel.' Previously, Herzi Halevi, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces, had stated, 'Iran has made more progress in uranium enrichment than ever before. Negative developments are observed that could lead to military action.' The US Secretary of State also expressed concern on Thursday, June 1, during a meeting with his British, German, and French counterparts regarding the escalation of Iran's nuclear activities. The Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council of the White House also reiterated on Wednesday, June 10, that the 'JCPOA' is currently not on the US agenda and has fallen off the United States' priorities.
