Meeting with Foad Fahandaj

"Meeting" is a short narrative about those whose lives are confined to a four-walled space called prison. In each segment of this program, we visit one of those who are referred to as "political-prisoners" by human rights organizations. He is a Baha'i citizen residing in Gorgan, who has been in prison since November 2012. His fellow inmates speak of his humor and creativity in making simple crafts. Foad Fahandaj has been sentenced to five years in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime, collaborating with hostile governments, and membership in the Baha'i organization. Foad Fahandaj was arrested in October 2012 along with several other Baha'i citizens, including his brother Farhad Fahandaj, in Gorgan. These individuals were initially held in solitary confinement at the Intelligence Department and Gorgan prison and were transferred to Evin Prison after a month. He was ultimately tried along with his brother and other co-religionists in May 2013 in Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Moghiseh, and was sentenced to prison. *** The information in this audio file relates to the time of its preparation, editing, and publication, and the status of the political and ideological prisoner mentioned in this report may have changed since what you hear in this program.
