Meeting with Kafiyeh Malek Mohammadi

"Meeting" is a brief narrative about those whose lives are confined within the walls of a prison. In each segment of this series, we visit one of those who are referred to as 'political prisoners' by human rights organizations. She is a prisoner from the 1980s. During those years, she was imprisoned while pregnant and gave birth to her eldest son in prison. From the time of her arrest in December 2009 until October 2011, she spent nearly three years without taking a single day of leave from prison. Kafiyeh Malek Mohammadi was arrested in December 2009 during the Ashura protests of that year along with her husband, Asghar Mahmoudian. Ms. Malek Mohammadi, who is over 60 years old, was tried in Branch 28 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Mogheiseh, on charges of assembly and conspiracy with intent to act against national security. *** The information in this audio file relates to the time of its preparation, compilation, and publication, and the status of the political and ideological prisoner mentioned in this report may have changed since what is heard in this program.
