Meeting with Osman Esmaeili

"Meeting" is a short narrative about those whose lives are confined to a four-walled space called prison. In each segment of this program, we visit one of those who are referred to as 'political-prisoners' by human rights organizations. A 55-year-old worker who is the breadwinner of a family of seven is currently imprisoned. He was arrested for disturbing public order by participating in International Workers' Day celebrations. Osman Esmaeili, from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan province, was arrested on May 8, 2015, by plainclothes agents in Saqqez and was released after 12 days in solitary confinement on a bail of 72 million tomans. Six months later, in November 2015, he was tried in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez for disturbing public order through his participation in the International Workers' Day celebrations and was sentenced to one year in prison.
