Member of Kibbutz Be'eri Security Team: I Contacted Netanyahu at 11 AM on October 7

A member of the local security team of Kibbutz Be'eri revealed in an interview with Israel's Channel 12 that he contacted Benjamin Netanyahu at 11 AM on October 7 to inform him that hundreds of terrorists were present inside the kibbutz. According to Maor, Netanyahu assured him that the incident would be addressed. Maor stated in response to a Channel 12 reporter's question about the conversation with Netanyahu, 'Yes, this happened.' He added that Be'eri was alone and abandoned at that time and had requested help. Netanyahu responded, 'We will address this issue.' However, additional military forces did not arrive at the kibbutz until 1:30 PM. Maor also praised the Israeli army for acknowledging and explaining its mistakes during the investigation on Thursday and emphasized the necessity of establishing a government inquiry commission to investigate the events leading up to October 7. He added that tactical and strategic lessons must be learned from this incident. On Thursday, July 21, Yoav Galant, Israel's Minister of Defense, called for a government investigation into the mistakes made regarding the Hamas attack on October 7. He specified that this investigation should include all decision-makers, including himself and Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. Galant stated during a graduation ceremony for new officers, which Netanyahu also attended, that the investigation should be objective and comprehensive, including all executive, military, and security bodies. The audience welcomed his remarks. Previously, Netanyahu had rejected calls for a government investigation, postponing it until after the war. During the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, more than 1,200 people, including women, children, and the elderly, were massacred, and over 250 others were taken hostage. Nine months after this terrorist attack, 109 hostages have been freed from Hamas captivity, and according to Israeli estimates, 116 other hostages are still in Gaza, of which 42 are likely to have lost their lives. Hamas is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Japan, and several other countries.
