Message from Rezvaneh Ahmadkhani Beigi from Evin: The homeland will not remain under the control of oppression, corruption, and tyranny

Rezvaneh Ahmadkhani Beigi, a political prisoner held in Evin who is in her seventh month of pregnancy, in a message received by Voice of America, stated that "in about two months my daughter will be born" and expressed her belief that "freedom, security, and prosperity" for children will be provided in a "free Iran." Ahmadkhani Beigi, who is in the women's section of Evin prison while her husband Behfar Lalehzari is also imprisoned, addressed Iranian "freedom-seekers and fighters" in her message, emphasizing hope for "freedom, comfort, security, and prosperity" and asserting that "our homeland will not remain under the control of oppression, corruption, and tyranny." She mentioned that the couple is experiencing "stressful days" during her seventh month of pregnancy and expressed gratitude to those who helped her voice be heard and showed their support in any way possible, especially thanking political prisoners. Ahmadkhani Beigi emphasized that "freedom, comfort, security, and prosperity" for her and her family will only be achieved when other political prisoners and those under government restrictions outside of prison also attain "real freedom" that is "worthy of humanity," as she stated, "our lives and freedom are intertwined." This constitutionalist political prisoner, stressing the slogans "Long live Iran, long live freedom, and raise the tricolor flag of the lion and sun," added: "I am certain that one day all these costs and efforts we have made for collective freedom and our homeland and to not be under the control of oppression, corruption, and tyranny will bear fruit." Rezvaneh Ahmadkhani Beigi and her husband Behfar Lalehzari were last arrested on September 18, 2023, by the "Anti-Security Police" in Tehran and remain in Evin prison. Previously, five political prisoners held in Qazalhessar prison expressed concern over Ahmadkhani Beigi's situation and called for her unconditional release. In recent weeks, a source close to Ahmadkhani Beigi told Voice of America that this pregnant political prisoner suffers from multiple illnesses, and specialist doctors have determined that continued imprisonment for her and her fetus is "very dangerous."
